The City of Highland Park Junior Police Academy returns in August 2023! The program is open to any student enrolled in a District 112 school 9 years of age or older or any Highland Park/Highwood resident aged 9-14. (Note: high school students are not eligible to apply.) This year, the program runs August 7 - 11, 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM at the Highland Park Police Department.
In the week-long program, cadets will be exposed to different aspects of law enforcement, with a focus on the “why” rather than the “how”. The program incorporates decision-making skills into all topics, with a focus on developing positive moral character. Emphasis will be placed on each child’s role in maintaining the quality of our community.

- K9 Presentations
- Crime Scene Evidence
- Traffic Stops
- Fingerprinting
Graduates will receive a Junior Police Academy t-shirt and diploma!
