Ravinia Fire Station Redevelopment

Ravinia Fire StationOctober 25, 2021 -- The redevelopment of the Ravinia Fire Station has begun! The temporary fire station will be placed at Brown Park, off Roger Williams and Burton Avenue while the new Fire Station is constructed where the current station is located.  Special thanks to the Park District of Highland Park for granting the City approval to use a portion of Brown Park for the temporary station. Temporary construction fencing was installed on Wednesday, October 20, 2021. The fencing is anticipated to be in place for approximately 60 days while the foundation is established for the temporary station. The temporary station will include an apparatus bay and trailer that will be on-site for 12 to 15-months while the new station is constructed. The relocation to the temporary fire station will not impact the Fire Department’s ability to respond to calls for service.

Previously, on October 12, 2021, the City Council approved contracts for the temporary fire station development.  The work will include site leveling, the placement of utilities, and paving to accommodate a modular living quarter, a garage for equipment, and a construction trailer. Monday, October 18, 2021, a fence will be placed surrounding the site during the development of the temporary station for public safety and will be removed approximately 60 days after placement.  The placement of the modular living quarters and garage are to occur in early December.  The temporary fire station will be located in Brown Park across the street from the current Ravinia Fire Station to provide consistent service to the southern portion of the City.
