Archived: 2021 April Election Information

NOTE: This article refers to the 2021 April Consolidated election and remains on the City’s website for archival purposes. To find your polling location for the current election, visit LakeVoterPower.info


The Consolidated Election for Township, City Council, Park District, School District, and other officials will be held on Tuesday, April 6. On Election Day, polls will be open from 6 AM until 7 PM.

Early Voting
Early voting will be held from March 22 - April 3 at the Highland Park Country Club, 1201 Park Avenue West. Hours are Mon. - Fri., 9 AM - 5 PM; Sat., 9 AM - 2 PM. Please note that Early Voting will not be available on Sundays.

Vote by Mail
Planning to vote by mail in the April 6 Consolidated Election? Voters may now log in at LakeVoterPower.info to request a mail-in ballot. Voters may also return the downloadable Application for Ballot form, available here, by email or by US Mail.

Voter Registration Eligibility 

You may register to vote if: 
  • You are a United States citizen
  • You are at least 18 years old on election day
  • You have resided in your voting precinct for at least 30 days

Note: You must register again if your name or permanent address has changed. Voter registration requires two forms of identification, including one with a current address (new residents may use a utility bill, checkbook, etc.). 

Online Voter Registration
Residents may register to vote online through the State Board of Elections website. Online voter registration for the 2021 April Consolidated Election will close on March 21, 2021. 

Changing Your Voter Registration Name or Address
Voters must re-register or update your registration after a move or name change.

Should you change your name by marriage, divorce or other legal name change and move, you must re-register under your new name and provide the new signature on your registration record. Two forms of identification are required with your new name and one showing your current Lake County physical street address.

If you move within Lake County, you must provide written notification of your new address and sign the request:

  • Mail notification including your name, old and new address, date of birth and your signature or,
  • Complete the back of your Voter's Certificate of Registration Card including your signature.

If you move to Lake County from another county or another state, you must complete a new registration application.

The Lake County Clerk's office is required to verify the accuracy of the voter rolls. This is accomplished by mailing notices to confirm the respective at the address on file.

Election Judges Needed
The Lake County Clerk's office needs Election Judges to work in Lake County's Election Day voting sites on April 6. Training classes continue through March 2 and it's not too late to sign up!

While working in the county's voting sites, election judges may be responsible for verifying voters' identities, issuing ballots, or observing the ballot bins. Some roles require assistance in setting up the voting site on election eve.
 
Election judges must be Lake County registered voters and enthusiastic about customer service. Bilingual English/Spanish speaking applicants are encouraged to apply. Illinois Department of Public Health safety practices and health standards are in place in all training rooms, Early Voting sites, and Election Day voting sites.
