January 30, 2021 -- The US National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for our area from Saturday afternoon January 30, through Sunday afternoon, January 31. A new weather system is likely to produce heavy, wet snow accumulating 6 to 9 inches and create dangerous travel impacts. Visit weather.gov/chicago to learn more, and use lakecountypassage.com to check road conditions. Please be considerate of your neighbors and clear your sidewalk of snow and ice. If you use a snow removal service, please ensure the contractor is not obstructing sidewalks with snow or moving snow onto neighboring properties. After 4" or more of accumulated snowfall, the City's contractor will clear snow from all City sidewalks. For the exception of high foot traffic areas and sidewalks surrounding schools, all sidewalks are cleared after street snow plowing operations are completed.

City Public Works crews are prepared for snow removal operations. Public Works can be reached at 847.432.0807. To report a Public Works concern after hours, please contact Police Non-Emergency at 847.432.7730. To report an emergency, please dial 911.

As a reminder, winter parking restrictions prohibiting street parking longer than 15 minutes from 2:00 - 6:00 AM are in effect through March 31, 2021. This Citywide parking ban facilitates snow removal operations when the need arises and decreases occurrences of accidental damage to vehicles parked on the streets or in City parking lots.

Authorized overnight City parking lots are identified on the City's website at cityhpil.com/parking.
