Crossroads Business District Stakeholder Meetings Announced

Crossroads Business District Stakeholder Meetings Announced
City of Highland Park to host virtual input meetings for residents, businesses, and property owners

October 16, 2020 – The City of Highland Park (City) will host four public input meetings as part of its Crossroads Business District (District) long-term planning process. The meetings will allow community members from various stakeholder groups to share feedback and recommendations about goals for the District, a mile-long corridor along Skokie Valley Road. Out of consideration for COVID-19 public safety guidelines, the following meetings will be held virtually via Zoom:

  • October 26, 8:00 AM: Business & Property Owner Workshop
  • October 28, 6:00 PM: Resident Workshop #1
  • October 30, 8:00 AM: Resident Workshop #2
  • October 30, 3:00 PM: Developer Focus Group

Stakeholders, including property and business owners, developers, residents, and employees of businesses in the District, are encouraged to attend a meeting to share their thoughts.  Interested individuals should email planning@cityhpil.com with what stakeholder group they are in (resident, developer, property/business owner) and their preferred meeting date to receive information for the Zoom call.   Residents have the option to attend one of two meeting dates.

The City will also post a public survey on its website to allow individuals who may not be able to attend a meeting to share their feedback. The survey will be available at cityhpil.com/crossroads beginning on Wednesday, October 28, 2020. Responses will be collected through November 30, 2020. Individuals without internet access may also complete the survey over the phone by contacting the City’s Planning Division at 847.432.0867.

The City Council prioritized the creation of a long-term plan for the District in 2019. One of the City’s primary sales tax-contributing business districts, the District includes automobile dealerships and related services, home improvement and other retailers, food establishments, financial advisers, a hotel, and office uses.

Information about the Crossroads Business District planning process is available at cityhpil.com/crossroads. Questions should be directed to the Community Development Department, Planning Division, at planning@cityhpil.com.
