City Statement on Anti-Semitic Attack in Monsey, NY

December 30, 2019 -- The City of Highland Park is saddened and outraged by the senseless act of anti-Semitic violence which occurred during a Hannukah celebration inside of a rabbi’s home in Monsey, NY this past Saturday. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and families of this appalling and tragic incident. The City stands side by side in solidarity with the Jewish community to strongly condemn anti-Semitism and hate of any kind.

The string of multiple anti-Semitic incidences that have occurred in the New York/New Jersey area is antithetical to the peaceful practice and enjoyment of religious freedoms in our country. Such acts of hatred have absolutely no place here or anywhere! Prejudice, hatred, and bigotry are antithetical to our values and will not be tolerated in our community. We repeat loudly for all to hear that hate has no home in Highland Park.
