HP150 Bus and Walking Tours

April 16, 2019 – As part of the City’s sesquicentennial (150th Anniversary) celebration, the HP150 Architecture Committee has coordinated three exciting Highland Park Tours on May 11. Tours are designed to educate guests and celebrate significant architectural gems located throughout Highland Park. Bus and walking tours are available. Bus tours are handicap accessible.

Highland Park Architecture Tour
9 AM & 1:30 PM
Docent Laura Knapp will lead a morning and afternoon tour where participants will discover different types of architecture styles. The hour bus tour will showcase residential architecture throughout the City and reveal amazing facts about the development of Highland Park’s unique neighborhoods.

Hollywood in Highland Park
10:30 AM & 3 PM
Docent Susan Benjamin will lead a morning and afternoon bus tour. In this half hour tour, participants will learn about Highland Park sites and homes that were used as sets for iconic movies. Along the way, learn the stories and history of those who created the movies.

Art Tour
11:30 AM
Docents Beth Boyd and Mary Shea will take participants on an in-depth tour of art at the Highland Park Public Library and Ravinia Festival in this hour and a half bus and walking tour. Some walking and stairs are involved in this tour.

Tour Tickets are available in person at City Hall from 8:30 AM – 5 PM, 1707 St. Johns Ave. for $15. Participants may purchase two separate tours for $25 or all three tours for $30. Cash, credit card or check will be accepted. Interpretive Services are available upon request

The City of Highland Park will continue celebrating its sesquicentennial anniversary (150th anniversary) throughout the year with family-friendly, special community events, concerts, City tours, and more. All plans are guided by the HP150 Steering Committee and nine subcommittees comprised of over 100 volunteers.
