Solar Eclipse Viewing Safety Reminder

Are you planning on viewing the upcoming solar eclipse? Take extra precautions on August 21 from 11:54 AM to 2:42 PM. While the solar eclipse is a fun and unique event, severe retinal damage can result without proper eclipse viewing glasses. Be aware of counterfeit glasses and viewers sold by disreputable vendors. To ensure authenticity, follow the guidance of The American Astronomical Society (AAS) to determine if the glasses are safe and refer to their list of reputable vendors. In addition, sunglasses, binoculars, cameras, and telescopes should not be used. Children should be carefully supervised during the eclipse. Solar eclipse viewing parties are taking place throughout the North Shore for safe viewing. For more information about the solar eclipse and safety tips, visit NASA’s website.
