We are pleased to announce the return of the HPPD Junior Police Academy!  The Academy is open to any student enrolled in a District 112 school that is 9 years or older, or any Highland Park/Highwood resident age 9-14. (High school students are not allowed to participate in the Academy)

There is no charge to attend the Junior Police Academy! Cadets will be exposed to several different aspects of law enforcement, with a focus on the “why”, rather than the “how”.

Topics include:
K9 Presentations
Crime Scene Evidence
Traffic Stops
Building Searches
Fingerprinting

All topics of discussion will incorporate decision-making skills, with a focus on developing positive moral character. An emphasis will be placed on each child’s role in maintaining the quality of our community.

Graduates receive a Junior Police Academy T-shirt and Diploma!

Applications are available at www.cityhpil.com/jpa and in the Police Department lobby at 1677 Old Deerfield Road. Contact Detective Duchak at 847.923.1123 with questions.
