2019 Bridge Maintenance Program

  INVITATION FOR BIDS

The City of Highland Park will receive sealed bids for the:

 2019 Bridge Maintenance Program

until 11:00 a.m., June 13, 2019

 The work shall be performed at the locations specified below: 

  1. Wade Street Bridge over Ravine – Bridge is located between Cedar Avenue and Marshmann Street. The work consists of reinforcing (shoring) the Wade Street Bridge which is used to cross a ravine.  The shoring of the bridge shall consist of installing new steel beams under the existing precast box beams that have been determined by a Structural Engineer to need additional reinforcement.  The bridge deck load will be carried by the new steel beams as the precast box beams bear on the new steel beams.  The new steel beams shall be supported at the ends to the piers and/or abutment by steel clip connections with post installed, epoxy grouted anchor bolts or by steel bracket with post installed, epoxy grouted anchor bolts.  The new steel beams shall be lowered in place from above to eliminate or minimize work from the bottom of the ravine channel. 
  2. Baldwin Pedestrian Bridge over Ravine – Bridge is located between Marshmann Street and Dean Avenue. The work consists of removing and replacing concrete around joints, jacking and removing existing expansion bearings and replacing the bearings with Type II Elastomeric Bearings, jacking and removing existing fixed bearings and replacing the bearings with Low Profile Fixed Bearings, removing and replacing end frame and gusset plat at south abutment, cleaning and painting last 10 feet of beam ends and diaphragms, replacing existing deck joints with preformed joint strip seal and complete structural concrete repairs and sidewalk removal and replacement at each end of the bridge. 
  3. Hazel Pedestrian Bridge over Ravine – Bridge is located between Linden Avenue and Hazel Avenue. The work consists of removing and replacing concrete around joints, jacking and removing existing expansion bearings and replacing the bearings with Type I Elastomeric Bearings, jacking and removing existing fixed bearings and replacing the bearings with Low Profile Fixed Bearings, cleaning and painting last 10 feet of beam ends and diaphragms, replacing concrete around joints with Polymer Modified Cement Mortar. 
  4. Pedestrian Bridge over US Route 41 – Bridge is located south of Deerfield Road, over US Route 41. The work consists of repairing the existing drainages system on the bridge deck and making structural concrete repairs. 

Bids will ONLY be received and accepted via the online electronic bid service through QuestCDN.com. Bidders must be on the plan holders list through QuestCDN for bids to be accepted. To access the electronic bid form, download the project documents and click the online bidding button. The City reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids. NO paper bids will be accepted. 

Bid security is required as stated in the “Bid Security”section found on page 2 in the Instructions portion of the Bid Package.  Each prospective Bidder shall furnish a copy of a Certificate of Eligibility as issued by the Illinois Department of Transportation. The successful Bidder shall be required to furnish certificates and policies of insurance as required by the Contract.  All Contracts for the Construction of Public Works are subject to the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act (820 ILCS 130/1-12).  Contractors must provide Certified Monthly Payroll Reports.
