The office and duties of the city clerk are established by state statute and local ordinance and cover a host of municipal responsibilities.

Primary among these are:
  • Administration of oaths
  • Attendance at and recording of council proceedings
  • Attestation and certification of documents, publication of ordinances and compliance with the Freedom of Information and Open Meetings Act
  • Custody of the City seal
  • Licensing
  • Maintenance of official records and documents
