Start off the holiday season at the City of Highland Park’s Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony on Saturday, November 19 from 3 – 5 PM at Port Clinton Square. Gather in Downtown Highland Park and watch the celebration unfold as Mayor Nancy Rotering magically lights 200 trees to celebrate the 2016 holiday season. 

During the event, Family-friendly activities will be offered throughout Downtown Highland Park including Frosty’s Scavenger Hunt with prizes, visits with Santa, horse drawn sleigh rides, face painting and more. 

The event will have a bin near the Frosty Scavenger Hunt table for residents to drop-off non-expired food donations. Donated items are brought to the Moraine Township Office at 777 Central Avenue, where they are accepted Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 PM

There will be Nutcracker performances by Irina Makkai Ballet in the windows of Uncle Dan’s Kids from 3 - 5:30 PM and a special performance by North Shore School of Dance at 5 PM.

Almost 20 businesses are participating this year by either donating to the raffle prize, activities, providing an in-kind donation or being a stop along the scavenger hunt.
