Highland Park professionals and Highland Park High School (HPHS) juniors and seniors are invited to participate in the Highland Park Career Exploration Program (HPCE). The City of Highland Park (City), HPHS and the Highland Park Chamber of Commerce (Chamber) launched the year round program earlier this year to provide students with the opportunity to gain valuable insights into a potential career path and goals. Students are matched and meet with professionals to discuss career aspirations, work initiatives, and other professional inquiries. Participating businesses benefit by providing a critical service to local students and the community and developing an informed future workforce. Approximately fifty individuals participated since the launch of the program highlighting potential careers in the areas of public relations, marketing, medicine, government, public safety, merchandising, auto mechanics, technology and more.
Job Shadow hosts will meet with students in Highland Park. Professionals are business owners, directors or managers within their business establishment and must live or work in Highland Park. As part of the program, participating professionals and students meet up to three times for two-hour sessions each.
Applications for professionals and students are being accepted on a rolling basis. Once selected, professionals are matched with students with similar career aspirations as soon as possible.
