City Endorses the Welcoming and Inclusive Community Pledge

City of Highland Park officials and staff joined more than 200 Lake County leaders, including mayors and other elected officials, city and village managers, police chiefs, school and park district superintendents, business executives, health professionals, faith leaders, and social service agency representatives who came together on February 21, 2017 to take a stand for inclusion and unity, and pledged to make Lake County an inclusive and welcoming community. The Summit of Leaders was organized by The Partnership for a Safer Lake County following increased reports of divisiveness, intolerance, and disrespectful actions across the country.

Attendees showed their support by signing their names to giant-sized “Lake County Welcoming and Inclusive Community Pledges” and pledged to stand against hate and discrimination and affirm that Lake County should be a welcoming community for all.

The City of Highland Park is committed to being an inclusive community by serving all residents and families regardless of their background. To affirm the City's pledge, the City Council adopted a Resolution at the February 27, 2017 Regular City Council meeting endorsing the Welcoming and Inclusive Community Pledge and encourages the community to join in signing the pledge which can be found by clicking the link below.
