Police Investigation in November 10th Shooting Complete

Highland Park Police were alerted by Highland Park Hospital staff that a 14-year old juvenile was being treated for a gunshot wound in their emergency room on Thursday November 10, 2016 at approximately 5:35 PM. The youth was treated and released from the hospital that evening. The youth, a student at Highland Park High School alleged that an altercation had taken place in the area of Waukegan Avenue and Orchard Lane in Highland Park earlier that day. Detectives were able to interview several other youths who provided information concerning the incident which led police to believe that shots were fired from a passing car.  

The Highland Park Police Department has arrested six adults following the investigation of the shooting. 

On Sunday, November 13, 2016 at approximately noon, two vehicles were stopped in the area of Route 41 and Route 137 by Highland Park Police Detectives, assisted by the Lake County Sheriff’s Gang Task Force and the U.S. Marshal’s Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force. William Servin, a previously identified person of interest in the case, was observed in the company of these subjects prior to the stop. He was arrested at the scene along with five other individuals. Two of the individuals were in the car from which the shots were fired in Thursday’s occurrence in Highland Park.  He was arrested at the scene along with five other individuals.  Two of the individuals were in the car from which the shots were fired in Thursday’s occurrence.  All subjects were arrested without incident.  Three firearms were recovered, one of which is believed to be the gun used in the shooting.  Additionally, controlled substances and cannabis were located.  Fredy Montoya, the driver of the vehicle in Thursday’s incident, and Jonathan Servin, a passenger, are charged with accountability due to their active participation in the shooting.  Two juvenile participants are currently in custody at Lake County’s Depke Juvenile Justice Center with the recommended charge of Mob Action.  Names of juveniles involved cannot be disclosed as required by state law.
